Dr Pepper has given away millions of dollars in tuition over the last decade, but five lucky contestants got to be part of a Dr Pepper first – competing at the BCS National Championship game in hopes of winning $100,000 in tuition.

Fans voted to send Kelsie B., Sango D., Megan H., Tiffany Z. and Xavier B. to South Florida, and Lauren H., a $2,500 winner who competed in the preliminaries at the ACC Championships, was also there to capture the action as an on-field reporter.

“I’m so thankful for the opportunity that Dr Pepper Snapple gave me to report on the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway throws at the BCS National Championship game,” said Lauren. “I know that I’m a future news anchor, and this was a great chance to show the world what I can do.”

Take a look at some of Lauren’s behind-the-scenes footage of the contestants competing for the grand prize.
